Andy T Band

Biography

The Andy T Band consists of former Smokey Wilson Band members. The band has a tight, hard hitting sound that developed from their many years on the road, backing the greats of the blues.

Smokey Wilson and The Andy T Band's July 2003 Marble Records release "Ready to Roll", is an absolute gem. Smokey and the band were in terrific form. To quote The Fabulous Thunderbirds' Kim Wilson, "They don't make 'em  like Smokey anymore".

Andy T has played professionally in LA area blues bands for more than 20 years. In early 1997 he received a call from the great LA bluesman Smokey Wilson.   He became a permanent  member the Smokey Wilson Band and performed with him for over 2 years. In 1998 he was called on by the legendary Guitar Shorty to play in his band, substituting for Big Terry DeRouen. This became a full time position and continued for more than 4 years.

Andy has performed professionally on stage with Smokey Wilson, Guitar Shorty, Philip Walker, Charlie Musselwhite, Lonnie Brooks, Marcy Levy, Finis Tasby, King Earnest,  Kid Ramos and many others.  He has been a guest on stage with William Clarke, Sam Myers,  Arthur Adams, Roy Gaines, Rod Piazza, and many others.

While not on the road, the band performed weekly at Babe's and Ricky's Inn in Los Angeles. Andy also did a stint in the Babes and Ricky's house band (South Central Los Angeles), playing six nights a week for over a year. As he puts it; "You just can't buy that kind of experience. We would back up some great local singers, then the likes of Jewel Akins, Ray Brewster and many other famous cats from the 50's and 60's would just walk in and take the stage. If club owner "Mamma" Laura liked what you were doing, she'd be all smiles."
